Violin by S.P Buyck, Rochester, NY, 2022
This full-sized violin, made in 2022, was crafted by a local luthier under the direction of our very own Sam Payton. Sourced from local resources, this violin exemplifies what it means to be a Rochesterian.
Built with a slab-sawn American maple back, a medium-wide grained American spruce top, and a unique scroll crafted from a local apple tree, this violin blends those three types of woods together, organically sharing the rich history of Rochester. The heavily antiqued varnish is reddish-orange on top of a golden ground, giving this violin great depth of character. Tonally, this violin is bright and clear, offering great projection.
A unique opportunity to own a contemporary violin from a Rochester native, this violin is waiting for its original owner to take it home and enjoy playing it for years to come.
