Music for the Heart, Hands and Soul
Join us on January 6th at 6:00 pm for an evening of chamber music that is heartfelt, expressive, and collaborative. In the spirit of community care, this is a free event and non-perishable food donations will be accepted for Foodlink.
Music for the Heart, Hands and Soul is a warm and intimate family concert featuring Bruce Frank, Cheryl Frank, and their daughter Joanna, sharing music that reflects their deep musical roots.

Bruce Frank
is originally from southern New Jersey. He plays the piano and organ, and teaches music theory at the University of Rochester and the Eastman School of Music. He also serves as Organist at the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford. Bruce enjoys spending time with his family, listening to the tuning of violas and cellos in the house, reading history, and researching the sidewalk on Winton Road with Rosie, a friendly dog.
Cheryl Frank
hails from Racine, Wisconsin, (Potawatomi land) holds a BM from Oberlin Conservatory, and a MM from the Eastman School of Music. Cheryl has served on the faculties of the Kanack School, Cobblestone Arts Center, and the Hochstein School. She has played with orchestras in Wisconsin, Japan, Erie PA, Buffalo, New Orleans, Binghamton, Syracuse, and Rochester. In chamber music, she has been a member of the Seraphim Strings, the East End Chamber Players, the Genesis String Quartet, the Magnolia String Quartet, and Quartsemble. From 2000-2004, Cheryl was the founding director of the New Orleans String Project, whose mission is to teach viola, cello, and bass to inner-city New Orleans children. Cheryl has also played organ for churches since 1983. Cheryl went on to obtain an MDiv from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, and is humbled to be serving as Associate Pastor of Greece Baptist Church for the past 10 years. Cheryl maintains a studio of violin, viola, and piano students. Cheryl and her husband Bruce are blessed by two adult daughters: Helen and Joanna.
Joanna Frank
is a second-year undergraduate at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, studying with Professor Alan Rafferty. Before attending CCM, she studied with Christopher Haritatos for 11 years, and in 2024 received an honors diploma from the Eastman Community Music School. A former member and two-season principal of the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra, Joanna performed on the HYSO tours to Germany, the Czech Republic, and Italy. She is a recipient of the Douglas Lowry Award in partnership with the Rochester Music Hall of Fame, through which she was given the opportunity to perform at the RMHF induction ceremony. A lucky duck, Joanna has also appeared as a soloist with several ensembles, including HYSO, the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra, and her former high school orchestra. Chamber music is one of Joanna’s greatest passions. She has played in chamber groups since the age of nine, winning the Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music competition and earning second place in the chamber music competition at CCM. She now performs regularly with multiple chamber groups at the CCM. Her festival experience includes Point CounterPoint, the Ascent Cello Festival, and the International Chamber Music Festival. Outside of music, Joanna enjoys training for triathlons, traveling, learning German, spending time with her gorgeous dog and beautiful family, and sleeping.
