Kevin Wang Performs Beethoven's Piano Sonata No.3 at Payton Violins

Join us on September 13th at Payton Violins for a captivating evening with pianist Kevin Wang, as he continues his ambitious series of performing all of Beethoven’s piano sonatas. This concert features Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 3 in C major, a piece that defies the usual simplicity of the key with bold chord changes and rich colors.  In it are shocking chord changes, rich colors and a strong sense of adventure. It is also the most virtuosic of the sonatas thus far, further proving Beethoven’s desire to break the mold.

The program explores C major in all of its forms, beginning with Poulenc’s lively Bourée and moves through works by Lutosławski before reaching the colorful Peter and the Wolf Suite by Nikolayeva, and concludes with Chopin’s stirring Heroic Polonaise.

Kevin Wang’s performances are a treat for both seasoned listeners and newcomers. His intermission talks are particularly special—offering insights into the music, its connections, and its historical significance. These conversations add depth to the experience, making the evening both enjoyable and educational.

Don’t miss this chance to experience Kevin Wang’s exceptional talent and engaging storytelling in the intimate setting of Payton Violins!
