Kevin Wang Performs Beethoven's Piano Grand Sonata in E-Flat Major, Op.7
Friday, November 8th ~ 7 pm
An Evening With Kevin Wang, Brahms, Scriabin, Chopin, and of course Beethoven!
Join us on November 8th as pianist Kevin Wang fills our recital hall with the vibrant spirit of Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, and Scriabin. This is a rare chance to hear some of the piano repertoire’s most ambitious and expressive works in an intimate setting—an evening to settle in, listen deeply, and perhaps find yourself moved in unexpected ways.
Kevin has prepared a thoughtful program that opens with Brahms’s early Scherzo in E-flat minor, Op. 4—a piece that sparkles with youthful energy and a few delightful surprises. The heart of the evening lies in Beethoven’s Grand Sonata in E-flat major, Op. 7, a bold and sweeping work that manages to be both stormy and tender. Kevin’s interpretation promises to bring out Beethoven's mix of precision and wild freedom.
After the intermission, the mood turns to something a bit more mysterious, with Scriabin’s short, intense miniatures. These pieces capture a range of emotions in brief, fleeting moments—almost like secrets shared. And to finish, Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor takes center stage, a masterpiece of lyrical beauty and dramatic intensity. It’s a work that feels so fitting for November, shifting between a warm glow and sudden chills.
If you love piano music or just want an evening of inspiring artistry, we hope to see you here.
