We are thrilled to present Samuel Payton's first cello he ever crafted, now available at our Violin shop in Rochester, NY. This exceptional instrument, made in Philadelphia in 2010, has spent the last 14 years in the City of Brotherly Love, absorbing its rich musical heritage.
This cello holds a special place in Sam's heart. The back and top are made from exquisite maple and spruce, gifted to me as a Christmas present. These beautiful pieces of wood are now over 60 years old, lending a mature and resonant tone to the instrument.
Modeled after a Giovanni Battista Rogeri cello, this creation reflects Sam's dedication and passion for the craft, honed under the guidance of esteemed luthiers Chris Germain and instrument expert Fred Oster in Philadelphia. The intricate workmanship and the historic wood combine to produce a cello with a rich, warm sound and exceptional playability.
Sam excited to share this unique cello with you, hoping it will inspire and delight musicians for many years to come.
